Robinson Calcagnie, Inc. Secures $11.9 Million Jury Verdict in Truck Accident Case

October 5‚ 2012‚ POMONA‚ CA: A Pomona jury has awarded an $11.9 million judgment to plaintiff Teodoro Cruz who suffered serious injuries as the result of a freeway truck accident which rendered him an incomplete quadriplegic. The trial verdict stems from an accident which occurred in the early morning of April 16‚ 2009 on the I-10 San Bernardino freeway when the Plaintiff collided into the rear of Defendant’s tanker truck which Defendant claimed he stopped on the freeway in order to avoid an accident that he said happened just moments before. The Robinson Calcagnie, Inc. trial team, including partner Michelle West, presented evidence showing that the Defendant caused the accident by negligently stopping and parking his truck on the freeway and failing to follow basic highway trucking safety regulations. There were disputes as to what lights were on the trailer at the time of the accident. Jurors awarded Mr. Cruz over $10 Million dollars in damages for the permanent injuries he suffered‚ his medical expenses‚ as well as loss of earnings. Jurors also awarded his wife‚ Plaintiff Eugenia Cruz over $1‚200‚000 for her loss of consortium.
